Protecting Cultural Heritage In Times of Conflict

Protecting Cultural Heritage in Time Conflicts

Date of event: Wednesday, April 19th, 2017,
Time: 3:00pm-5:00pm
Venue: UN Headquarters Conference Room 1, New York

Never before in recent history have we seen such brutal and systematic destruction of cultural heritage used as a war tactic to intimidate populations and erase their history and identity. It is within this context that we intend to decipher way in which we can mitigate the deliberate destruction of cultural heritage sites, organized looting and illicit trafficking of precious artifacts. IFPSD along with our partners hope to encourage Member States and all relevant actors to adhere to the UN resolutions 2199 (2015) and 2347 (2017) to support countries standing in the face of dark forces that seek to destroy their past, present and future.
