The roles of both men and women are socially determined, changing and changeable rather than biological. Effectively promoting gender equality requires the recognition that women are diverse in the roles they play. And while they may be justified as being required by culture or religion, these roles vary widely by locality and changes over time. Efforts to promote women’s empowerment should ensure that cultural considerations are respected while women’s rights are upheld.
Our panel will shed light on their personal experiences with difficulties that women in difference countries face when they want to pursue a certain profession or role that is widely accepted by society as men’s profession despite having full capacity and qualification.
