Different Faces of Violence against Women

The International Federation for Peace & Sustainable Development (IFPSD), working towards the protection and empowerment of women and girls, along with the dismantlement of gender inequality, hosted the event, during the CSW63, “The Different Faces of Violence against Women” at the UNHQ. President Sally Kader joined forces together with a high-level panel aimed to strengthen, develop, and equip the necessary laws and tactics that will not just eliminate violence against women, but also provide the necessary measurements for prevention. President Sally Kader and the rest of the panel engaged in discussion on the current issues for women globally, as well as the necessary steps that can dismantle all violence against women. The event highlighted not just the importance of law for protection, but more importantly the implementation of current programs and laws as the core for combatting this issue.

The event was commenced with a lively discussion by distinguished Ambassadors from the Permanent Missions of Tanzania and African Union to the United Nations. Each ambassador delivered their remarks sharing their expertise undertaken by their respectful countries to ending all violence against women and girls. H.E. Wafa’ Bani Mustafa, Member in the Jordanian Parliament, Lawyer, & Activist, Dr. Dina Melhem, WFD’s Regional Director MENA and Senior Human Rights Advisor, and Ummy Ally Mwalimu, Minister of Health, Community Development, Gender, and Senior & Children of Tanzania all shared their knowledge, experience, and expertise to build concrete recommendations for the prevention and protection on all violence projected towards all women. As all advocates for women’s empowerment, their intolerance for any violence against women and commitment to protecting women echoed to their participation in this event.

As one of IFPSD’s Core Pillars, Women and Girls Empowerment is dear to President Kader’s heart and her commitment echoed in the event. As an organization deeply committed to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, IFPSD was honored to host distinguished guests of ambassadors and successful leaders that discussed way that will support, guide, and empower women and girls all over to be leaders. 

The IFPSD, is in consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN-ECOSOC), and is associated with Department of Public information (UN-DPI) also associated with the UN Department of Political Affairs (UNDPA) and accredited with the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). It is represented across 5 continents and 17 countries. In addition to women and girl empowerment, IFPSD is also committed to human rights, interfaith dialogue, cultural heritage, health and well-being, Youth Empowerment and as a part of its efforts to reach the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
