CSW64 Conference at the UN in New York Registration Page

International Federation for Peace and Sustainable Development (IFPSD) will be participating in the upcoming sixty-fourth session of the Commission on the Status of Women is planned to take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 9 to 20 March 2020. Representatives of Member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all regions of the world are invited to attend the session; as a UN accredited NGO, IFPSD will be hosting high-level events at the CSW. The organization annually hosts events and panels with UN Ambassadors, heads of states, and distinguished participants at the Commission to promote the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women

CSW64 / Beijing+25 (2020)

In 2020, the global community will mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (1995). A five-year milestone will be reached towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. 2020 is therefore a pivotal year for the accelerated realization of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls, everywhere.

Themes

The main focus of the session will be on the review and appraisal of the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the outcomes of the 23rd special session of the General Assembly. The review will include an assessment of current challenges that affect the implementation of the Platform for Action and the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of women and its contribution towards the full realization of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

NGO participation the active participation of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is a critical element in the work of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). NGOs have been influential in shaping the current global policy framework on women’s empowerment and gender equality

Registration

CSW64 registration for NGOs in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) will be open online via the United Nations INDICO registration system:, CSW64 registration for NGOs in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) will be open from 9 October 2019 to 27 January 2020 online via the United Nations Indico registration system.

Registered representatives who have been approved by their organizations to attend CSW64 will receive a registration confirmation email. Representatives will need to print out and show their registration confirmation email as well as a valid UN Member State government issued identification (passport if traveling from abroad) in order to collect a UN grounds pass at CSW on-site check-in in March 2020. Specifics regarding on-site check-in and issuance of grounds passes, such as location and opening hours, will be provided in the NGO advisories published closer to the session.

Travel and visa arrangements

The United Nations will not make travel or visa arrangements or pay for any expenses in connection with the participation of NGO representatives in the sessions of CSW. Such arrangements and costs are the exclusive responsibility of participants.

The United Nations does not charge fees for participation in the Commission on the Status of Women sessions.

Participants are encouraged to submit their visa applications well in advance, in accordance with their local United States Consulate requirements, in order to allow sufficient time for processing.
